Overview: Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Avonlea with this rare first edition of “Anne’s House of Dreams,” a novel written by Lucy Maud Montgomery, the esteemed Canadian author best known for her series of novels beginning with Anne of Green Gables in 1908. Published in 1917 by A.L. Burt Company, New York, this book is a piece of literary history. Condition: Embrace the character of a well-loved book with shelf and handling wear to the green cloth boards and binding, showcasing the general signs of previous use and a life well-lived. The pages exhibit fading, nicks, and imperfections charmingly commensurate with its age. Despite the passage of time, the binding remains structurally sound, a testament to the quality craftsmanship of A.L. Burt Company. While there is a full seam split between the copyright and dedication pages and pages 344 and 345, the 346 pages in total are securely bound to the hinge. A previous owner’s gift annotation on the front free paper adds a personal touch to this historical gem. Special Feature: The green cloth boards have some fading, but the frontispiece on the front panel featuring Anne is beautiful and bright in color, adding to the visual charm of this edition. About the Author: Lucy Maud Montgomery, a distinguished Canadian author, is best known for her series of novels beginning with Anne of Green Gables, published in 1908. Born at Clifton, Prince Edward Island, on November 30, 1874, Montgomery later resided at Leaskdale, north of Uxbridge, Ontario, after her wedding with Rev. Ewen Macdonald on July 11, 1911. She wrote close to a dozen books while living in the Leaskdale Manse before the family moved to Norval, Ontario, in 1926. Montgomery passed away in Toronto on April 24, 1942, and was buried at Cavendish, Prince Edward Island. Sequel Status: “Anne’s House of Dreams” is a sequel to Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea, Anne of the Island, and Anne of Windy Poplars. The fifth book in the series, it tells of the early years of Anne and Gilbert’s marriage.
