Welcome to 2020. It's a new year and never have honey bees and the pollination service they provide been more important then they are at this very moment in time.
Year 7 of "THINKING LIKE A BEEKEEPER" is a beginner to intermediate beekeeping course that will challenge you.
Starting Monday evening, January 27th in the boardroom of the Coombs Fairgrounds. Then, for the next 7 Mondays. 1014 Ford Road, Coombs BC. 6:30 PM.
The course is designed that you obtain honey bees and manage them through the 2020 season. We will help get you set up with everything you need to succeed.
All are welcome to attend; animal husbandry and bee experience are helpful. Honey bees are challenging. There is a need for good beekeepers.
Whether you keep honey bees for their exquisite honey, propolis or pollen, or the pollination service they provide to flowers and garden this course is for you.
Some folks keep bees just to be an outstanding land steward. It takes a while to become a good beekeeper. Knowledge, patience, and practice are all necessary. The friends you make in this course will last a lifetime.
Where else can you keep a farm animal on 4 sq.ft. of protected south-facing land and have 'your bees' forage thousands of acres? In return, your bees will bring back pollen and nectar to raise a healthy HB colony. You will be amazed.
We value past attendees for their experiences, they are able to access any session providing seats are available. No charge.
Beekeeper Spring comes early, this course has never failed to sell out. Textbook included.
It is recommended you join the Oceanside Hive: A Beekeepers Collective. We meet the 4th Thursday of the month on the Coombs Fairgrounds in Arrowsmith Hall. 6:30 PM. Come and join the fun.
